HMG

Urinary menotropins (FSH+LH biologic mixture) — labeled ART/infertility object; no athletic framing.

Editorial review:
What evidence says

Evidence snapshot

This drawer marks papers. It is not a plan, a dose, or a source. A paper is a bounded report. It is not a protocol. Grades name the object. They are not a safety rating.

Identity lock — labeled fertility object. HMG / menotropins are urinary-derived gonadotropin preparations containing FSH and LH activity, used for ovulation induction and controlled ovarian stimulation in infertility / ART. Modern highly purified products (HP-hMG / Menopur-class) are pharmaceutical fertility objects. No single small-molecule PubChem CID — HMG is a biologic mixture, not a research peptide monomer. ≠ pure recombinant FSH alone, ≠ hCG, ≠ gonadorelin. This drawer marks papers. It is not use advice.

Bottom line

Menotropins remain a standard ART stimulation option with randomized comparisons and network meta-analysis vs recombinant FSH strategies. Evidence grades belong to infertility medicine. There is no performance-enhancement evidence map — none should be invented.

Papers

Product / class profile (labeled fertility)

PMID 30264288 — Deeks 2018

Tested: clinical drug profile of highly purified human menopausal gonadotropin (Menopur) in infertility use.

Does not show: non-fertility indications or research-peptide equivalence.

PMID 34622768 — Jonker 2021

Tested: bioequivalence of liquid HP-hMG pre-filled pen versus powder pharmaceutical presentations (product-science comparison).

Does not show: a new efficacy indication beyond fertility labeling.

Controlled ovarian stimulation — comparative trials / synthesis

PMID 18583332 — Bosch 2008

Tested: randomized comparison of highly purified hMG versus recombinant FSH in ovarian hyperstimulation with GnRH antagonists.

Does not show: male hypogonadism or physique outcomes.

PMID 18681992 — Platteau 2008

Tested: HP-hMG versus recombinant FSH for ovarian stimulation in IVF cycles.

Does not show: that HMG equals the hCG trigger object.

PMID 32416978 — Witz 2020

Tested: randomized, assessor-blinded trial of HP-hMG vs recombinant FSH in high responders undergoing IVF.

Does not show: non-ART uses.

PMID 34886872 — Kirshenbaum 2021

Tested: comparison framing of recombinant FSH+LH versus human menopausal gonadotropins regarding source of LH bioactivity.

Does not show: that all LH-activity sources are clinically identical in every protocol.

PMID 40590303 — Melo 2025

Tested: Cochrane network meta-analysis of controlled ovarian stimulation protocols for assisted reproduction (menotropin-containing strategies among compared arms).

Does not show: consumer or athletic “HMG peptide” claims.

What is not established

Any athletic or physique use for HMG/menotropins. That HMG equals recombinant FSH-only products or equals hCG. Product identity for unregulated “HMG” preparations outside pharmaceutical fertility supply chains. This drawer does not provide use advice, schedules, or sourcing.
