VIP
Vasoactive intestinal peptide — ≠ PACAP; inhaled sarcoid/PH exploratory.
Editorial review:Evidence snapshot
This drawer marks papers. It is not a plan, a dose, or a source. A paper is a bounded report. It is not a protocol. Grades name the object. They are not a safety rating.
Identity lock. VIP is the 28-amino-acid neuropeptide vasoactive intestinal peptide. PubChem CID 53314964; formula C147H237N43O43S / MW 3326.8; CAS 37221-79-7. Closely related to PACAP family peptides — VIP ≠ PACAP. Endogenous hormone / neuropeptide with receptors VPAC1/VPAC2. Labeled diagnostic/therapeutic contexts are limited and indication-specific (e.g. VIPoma biology); investigational inhaled VIP has been studied in pulmonary disease. This drawer marks papers. It is not use advice.
Bottom line
Best-characterized human interventional signals in this pack are inhaled VIP exploratory work in sarcoidosis (immunoregulatory effects) and pulmonary hypertension, plus older erectile-injection pilots. Broader literature covers VIP/PACAP biology, pulmonary disease reviews, cancer/VIPoma overviews. Refuse “universal healing peptide” glow.

Tested: inhaled VIP exerts immunoregulatory effects in sarcoidosis (human interventional study).
Does not show: a broadly approved sarcoidosis VIP drug product in all jurisdictions, or systemic wellness use.
PMID 18978135 — Leuchte 2008
Tested: inhalation of VIP in pulmonary hypertension.
Does not show: that unlabeled VIP vials equal trial inhaled material.
PMID 23935337 — Mathioudakis 2013
Tested: review of inhaled VIP agonists’ potential role in respiratory therapeutics.
Does not show: a new primary pivotal trial.
PMID 37742737 — Zhong 2023
Tested: review of VIP’s role in pulmonary diseases.
Does not show: new primary clinical efficacy data by itself.
Biology / oncology context
PMID 19859678 — Fahrenkrug 2010
Tested: review of VIP and PACAP biology.
Does not show: clinical approval of exogenous VIP peptide for general use.
PMID 26702849 — Moody 2016
Tested: VIP/PACAP and receptors in cancer framing.
Does not show: approved VIP anticancer therapy.
PMID 31609932 — Siddappa 2019
Tested: review of VIP-secreting tumors (VIPomas).
Does not show: that exogenous VIP is a treatment for VIPoma (pathophysiology context).
Older interventional pilot
PMID 2405186 — Roy 1990
Tested: clinical trial of intracavernous VIP to induce penile erection.
Does not show: a modern first-line ED standard or systemic peptide wellness claim.
What is not established
Broad approved indications for exogenous VIP as a consumer or “research vial” peptide. Equivalence of unlabeled VIP to inhaled trial formulations. Interchangeability with PACAP. This drawer does not provide use advice, schedules, or sourcing.
