Cerebrolysin
Porcine brain hydrolysate — no CID; Cochrane stroke caution visible.
Editorial review:Evidence snapshot
This drawer marks papers. It is not a plan, a dose, or a source. A paper is a bounded report. It is not a protocol. Grades name the object. They are not a safety rating.
Identity lock — complex mixture. Cerebrolysin is a porcine brain-derived peptide/protein hydrolysate mixture ( neurotrophic-factor–like peptide fragments), not a single defined monomer. No PubChem CID is appropriate for the mixture. Batch composition is inherently complex; do not invent a primary sequence. ≠ Semax ≠ Dihexa ≠ Cerebrolysin-named research chemicals claiming a single peptide. Approved status is jurisdiction-sensitive and must not be assumed as a US broad dementia approval. This drawer marks papers. It is not use advice.
Bottom line
Cochrane-style stroke reviews have repeatedly found evidence insufficient or inconclusive for routine acute ischaemic stroke use. Vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s clinical narratives exist but are heterogeneous and often methodologically limited. Safety reports include serious hypersensitivity/anaphylaxis. Refuse “brain repair peptide” glow that treats the mixture like a single proven nootropic monomer.
Papers
Stroke — systematic reviews (cautionary)
PMID 37818733 — Ziganshina 2023
Tested: Cochrane review of Cerebrolysin for acute ischaemic stroke.
Does not show: clear routine-care efficacy; review conclusions remain cautious / do not support uncritical use.
PMID 32662068 — Ziganshina 2020
Tested: prior Cochrane update on Cerebrolysin for acute ischaemic stroke.
Does not show: a definitive Phase 3 win resolving uncertainty.
PMID 28430363 — Ziganshina 2017
Tested: Cochrane review edition on Cerebrolysin for acute ischaemic stroke.
Does not show: mixture identity becoming a single-peptide CID.
Dementia / AD clinical narratives
PMID 31710397 — Cui 2019
Tested: review/analysis framing of Cerebrolysin for vascular dementia.
Does not show: that heterogeneous trials equal modern definitive disease-modification proof.
PMID 23440834 — Chen 2013
Tested: Cerebrolysin for vascular dementia (systematic review framing).
Does not show: US-style broad approval from this pack alone.
PMID 22013558 — Antón Álvarez 2011
Tested: Cerebrolysin in Alzheimer’s disease (clinical experience / trial narrative).
Does not show: a contemporary pivotal AD disease-modification package meeting current standards.
Safety
PMID 22514795 — Thome 2012
Tested: safety profile of Cerebrolysin from dementia and stroke trial experience.
Does not show: that tolerability equals efficacy.
PMID 39055722 — Trimmel 2024
Tested: case report of life-threatening anaphylaxis due to Cerebrolysin.
Does not show: rarity estimates by itself; documents serious hypersensitivity risk.
What is not established
A single-molecule identity or PubChem CID. Clear routine benefit in acute ischaemic stroke per Cochrane-line conclusions. Modern confirmatory AD disease-modification. Equivalence to Semax, Dihexa, or defined neuropeptides. Safety of unregulated “Cerebrolysin-like” products. This drawer does not provide use advice, schedules, or sourcing.
