SNAP-8

Acetyl octapeptide-3 (CID 76283482) — thin cosmetic lit; CAS TBD; ≠ Argireline.

Editorial review:
What evidence says

Evidence snapshot

This drawer marks papers. It is not a plan, a dose, or a source. A paper is a bounded report. It is not a protocol. Grades name the object. They are not a safety rating.

Identity lock. SNAP-8 is the cosmetic peptide acetyl octapeptide-3 (INCI), commonly described as an N-acetylated SNAP-25 fragment analogue intended as a topical “expression-line” cosmeceutical. PubChem CID 76283482 (acetyl octapeptide-3); formula C41H70N16O16S / MW 1075.2. CAS is To be confirmed in PubChem for this record (commercial listings often cite 868844-35-0 — treat as unverified here). SNAP-8 ≠ Argireline / acetyl hexapeptide-8 (shorter SNAP-25 analogue — different object; do not pad this drawer with Argireline RCTs as SNAP-8 proof). Cosmetic peptide literature specific to SNAP-8 is thin. This drawer marks papers. It is not use advice.

Bottom line

Object-matched SNAP-8 clinical literature is sparse. Available human reports are typically small cosmetic / microneedle-delivery studies in which SNAP-8 may appear among loaded peptides. Much of the “Botox-like topical peptide” literature actually studies acetyl hexapeptide-8 (Argireline) — a different molecule. Refuse wrinkle-erasure glow from this thin SNAP-8-specific set. Do not oversell microneedle combo studies as SNAP-8-only RCTs.

Papers

SNAP-8 / octapeptide cosmetic delivery (thin)

PMID 31134751 — Avcil 2020

Tested: monocentric clinical study of bioactive peptides loaded on hyaluronic-acid microneedle patches (cosmetic endpoints; peptide mix framing may include SNAP-class actives — confirm object in full text before hard grading).

Does not show: a large SNAP-8-only pivotal dermatology RCT, or drug approval.

PMID 39082657 — Shin 2024

Tested: clinical safety/efficacy of a dissolving microneedle patch with dual anti-wrinkle actives (cosmetic device/peptide combination framing).

Does not show: SNAP-8 monotherapy proof as a drug.

Different object — acetyl hexapeptide-8 / Argireline (contrast only)

PMID 23464592 — Wang 2013

Tested: anti-wrinkle efficacy of Argireline (acetyl hexapeptide-8).

Does not show: SNAP-8 results; different peptide.

PMID 24754410 — Kraeling 2015

Tested: in vitro skin penetration of acetyl hexapeptide-8 from a cosmetic formulation.

Does not show: SNAP-8 (octapeptide) penetration.

PMID 33482052 — Kluczyk 2021

Tested: analytical review framing Argireline as “needle-free Botox” analytical challenge.

Does not show: SNAP-8 clinical efficacy.

PMID 40565185 — Zdrada-Nowak 2025

Tested: review of acetyl hexapeptide-8 skin permeability and efficacy in cosmeceuticals.

Does not show: SNAP-8-specific evidence; included only as hexapeptide contrast.

What is not established

Robust SNAP-8-only controlled human efficacy. Drug approval for expression wrinkles. Equivalence to Argireline / acetyl hexapeptide-8. A locked CAS for UI badges without secondary confirmation. This drawer does not provide use advice, schedules, or sourcing.
